Cape
Moreton Lighthouse- This is marvellous piece from history-
the first lighthouse to be built in Queensland.
Lit back in 1857, this lighthouse is almost 150 years in age. Back at
the time of its creation, oil wick was used as light source. With passing time
the light source got changed a multiple times and now it has laser beam
extending up to 30 km out to the sea.
This spot
also offers spectacular sights of marine wildlife. During the whaling season
when annual migration of whales occur this lighthouse makes the safest and best
destination to spot on the passing by baleens.
Blue
Lagoon Lake- The salt water may be surrounding the
Moreton Island; however the presence of a freshwater lake is like owing a
treasured possession. The Blue Lagoon Lake is a freshwater lake and is fed by
the rain water that gets soaked by the sand grains. Dragonflies, damselflies,
caddisflies, algae, shrimp, and crayfish largely comprise the flora and fauna
at Blue Lagoon. Many Oyestercatcher birds can also be spotted near lake as
their favourite shellfishes are also found here. Blue Lagoon is thus a great
spot for bird watching and the clean freshwater also makes it a cooling of
location. And hey, Blue Lagoon is not actually blue-but brown owing to the
presence of tea tree oils infused in the lake.
Honeymoon
Bay-
Lying near the Cape Moreton, Honeymoon Bay is a great picnic spot. One can
enjoy some calm and soothing moments here as the place is not at all
overcrowded. Shaped as half-moon, this picturesque beach is extremely pleasant
spot and one can also go for a refreshing swimming session- but be careful not
to go too far as there may be hidden rocks, rips and large waves.
