Fraser Island Champagne Pools –

The golden beaches of the Fraser Island need no introduction and added to that Fraser Island is also gifted with wonderful treasure of ever bubbling Champagne Pools, offering the Jacuzzi experience of the ocean water.
  • Location - Lying between Lake Wabby and Indian Head, along the side of the very well known 75-mile beach, the Champagne pools are the natural pools made out of volcanic rocks.
  • Getting soaked in salt waters- The pools are the only place on Fraser Island Tourism allowing swimming in salt water. To understand why it is one of the best places for plunging into the warm ocean currents is not at all rocket science.  The naturally formed pools are fed by the sea waves crashing over the volcanic rocks. Forming a natural trap for the fishes, the pools also offer a lively yet soothing experience of ocean currents.

Safety Tips

The Champagne Pools no doubt are one of the best places to dive in, however there are few safety measures that one should follow to enjoy a harmless and enjoying swimming session. After all you would surely not like to spoil the fun of your Fraser Island Vacations. Take a quick look here:-
  • Avoid straying away too far - this part of the island experiences very strong oceanic currents. Therefore getting away too far from the pool area is not at all safe due to the strong waves. For your safety purpose, do not get carried away too far, even if you are a very strong swimmer.
  • Take the tracks meant for walking - The Fraser Island walking tracks are made of firm sands and are well defined. But few sections may have soft sands that can make walking about tiresome. But for sure the walking tracks are much safer to trek than the solid rocks that may be slippery.
  • Do not get scratched by the rocks - The volcanic rocks are actually the main reason that make this place perfect and safe for swimming in salt waters. But at the same time, swim safely inside the pools and make sure you are at a safe distance from the sharp rocks, so that you do not get bruised or scratched by the safety rocks themselves.
